Ruby is a happy and incredibly affectionate girl who has been an absolute joy in foster. In fact, we’re not entirely sure she has stopped wagging her tail since she arrived!

It didn't take long for Ruby's lovely personality to shine through. She spent her first day testing the waters a little, but quickly settled and showed herself to be a well-trained, well-behaved girl who simply loves people. She is friendly, affectionate and seems to think everyone she meets is a new best friend.

Ruby is also adores tennis balls! If she had her way, you would throw one for her all day, every day. She does have her own ideas about the rules, though — she would quite like you to throw the ball while she keeps hold of it! When she gets particularly excited about her toys, she can occasionally forget to be gentle and become a little snappy, but this is simply enthusiasm rather than aggression. She has a favourite little white spiky ball which is especially precious to her and could be a wonderful reward for training.

Out on walks, Ruby can pull a little at first but she settles beautifully and is a real pleasure to walk. She is naturally curious and loves investigating everything around her.

Ruby does have some prey drive, she enjoys watching and occasionally stalking birds. She doesn't tend to dart or chase, but this is something her new family will need to be aware of. She can also bark at fast-moving bicycles, although this is something her foster family is continuing to work on.

One of Ruby's lovely qualities is how adaptable she is. She absolutely loves travelling on the bus and is a fantastic companion whether you have a car or not. At home, she is happy to be left for around 3–4 hours, she sleeps through the night and is perfectly content settling down by herself.

Ruby absolutely loves cuddles, especially if you are prepared to get down on the floor with her! She also really enjoys being groomed.

Ruby does have allergies to grain and chicken, so her diet will need to be managed carefully. She can be a little fussy with food, but her foster family has found a combination of salmon wet and dry food that she really enjoys, along with dog-safe vegetables and occasional fish. Dried duck breast treats are currently one of her favourite rewards and are proving very useful for training.

Ruby is, quite simply, a big lovable goofball with a huge personality. She is funny, affectionate, playful and full of character, and she has a wonderful way of making everyone around her smile.

We think Ruby would thrive with a family who will continue her training, enjoy her playful nature and give her plenty of opportunities for walks, adventures, cuddles and, of course, tennis balls!

She has so much love to give and we can't wait to see her find the wonderful home she deserves.
